Colour Planning
Transitioning from a low-fidelity wireframe to a mid-fidelity prototype marks a pivotal stage in our project, prompting a deeper exploration of design elements. As we delve into this phase, the initial focus turns towards selecting an apt color palette that resonates with the essence of the Reggae Festival and Afro-Caribbean culture we seek to embody. Drawing inspiration from the rich tapestry of Reggae music and its intertwined culture, we find a compelling connection to the vibrant hues of green, yellow, and red. These colors hold significant meaning within the Rastafarian movement, originating in Jamaica, where they symbolize aspects of nature, spirituality, and historical struggle. Incorporating this palette into our design not only pays homage to the cultural roots of Reggae but also infuses our prototype with a dynamic energy that reflects the spirit of the festival and its diverse community.
Onboarding (App)
onboarding is the process of walking users through the first few steps of using the programme. In addition to helping users set up their accounts or profiles, if necessary, it usually entails introducing users to the features, functionality, and interface of the app. In order to increase user retention and engagement, the main objective of onboarding is to give users a smooth and enjoyable experience as they become acquainted with the app. Welcome screens, tutorials, interactive walkthroughs, tooltips, and prompts to finish important actions or tasks are examples of common onboarding elements. However, onboarding experiences can vary greatly based on the complexity of the app and the unique needs of the user base.
iThe three-page layout of my onboarding app design gives users a more efficient experience. The festival logo adorning the welcome page sets a cheerful and inviting tone that sparks excitement for the festival experience. By providing users with real-time alerts about schedule modifications and special announcements, the enable notification page increases user engagement. Finally, the enable location page provides useful features that enhance attendees’ overall festival experience by enabling customised suggestions and easy navigation specific to the festival venue.
Call to action CTA
A call to action (CTA) is an instruction on a webpage telling the user what to do. Usually written as an order or action phrase, like “Sign Up” or “Buy Now,” a call to action is usually displayed as a button or hyperlink. This can be text on a button (a CTA button) or a web link in digital marketing. CTAs in email campaigns are frequently links to a webpage where the recipient can complete an action.
A webpage’s call to action is an essential component that serves as a guide for the user, informing them of what to do next. The user might not know what to do next if there isn’t a clear CTA.
Strong action words like “Buy Ticket” and “Check Out” are strategically used in our festival design to point users in the direction of their destination, which is obviously ticket purchases. Selecting simple and striking button labels guarantees understanding and encourages the user to click the button right away. These action words are made even more noticeable and impactful by being paired with vibrantly coloured buttons, which direct users smoothly towards the ticket purchase. Utilising the red, green, yellow, and brown colour associations that were covered in the previous colour planning post gives the design more depth and appeals to users’ subconscious feelings. These can be positioned so that they immediately grab the viewer’s attention and compel them to continue on the home screen and second information screen.
